Huge changes are taking place in Cyprus due mainly to European Community entry in May 2004. In Paphos, new developers and estate agents are appearing daily. In 1999 there were eight development companies - now there are over 240 and about 40 estate agents.

"Buyer beware" is more relevant than ever as some of these new companies have little experience.

Using an established company makes sense when you are making such a large financial investment. You need to feel confident and comfortable about the people you are working with - after all, it is unlikely you will travel to Cyprus every few days to see how your property purchase is progressing. I have been selling in Cyprus since 1989, especially in Paphos, which I know like a local. I have also bought many properties myself and my first hand experience enables me to understand the needs and anxieties when buying overseas.

I deal with around 15 medium sized companies who have proved themselves over the years for quality, reliability, good after-sales service and are financially sound. I know all of the properties and projects personally and can talk with authority about them. I rarely need to involve other agents.
